Plamen Angelov

European Data Protection Supervisor, Belgium

Mr Plamen Angelov is Head of Activity for Justice and Home Affairs at the Policy & Consultation Unit of the European Data Protection Supervisor and member of the internal Task Force on Artificial Intelligence. Before the EDPS, he has worked for the Bulgarian data protection authority as Director, as well as leading expert on data protection during the Bulgarian EU Presidency in 2018.

Mr Angelov has 20 years of experience in the area of internal security, borders and migration, on various legal and management positions, including as JHA Counsellor at the Permanent Representation of Bulgaria to the EU in Brussels, Home Affairs Attaché at the Bulgarian Embassy in London and Deputy Minister of Interior.

He has a Master degree in Law from Sofia University and CIPP/E certification from the IAPP.
