Maria Nikolaidi is a Professor in the Department of Informatics and Telematics at Harokopio University of Athens since December 2012. Since January 2016 she serves as Rector of Harokopio University of Athens. She holds a Bachelor's and Ph.D. obtained by the Department of Informatics, University of Athens, September 1990 and December 1995 respectively. She was elected Deputy Chair of the University Council from 2013 to 2016 and from July 2012 to September 2016 she was Director of the Department of Informatics and Telematics Postgraduate Programs. She was a Member of the University's Research Committee from September 2011 to January 2016 and Scientific Director of the University's Network Operations Center (NOC) (September 2013 - January 2016). She was a Member of the University's Quality Assurance Committee from 2010 to 2016 and she served as Chair of the Interval Evaluation Committee of the Department of Informatics and Telematics, since December 2009. Maria Nikolaidi was also a Member of IEEE and ISCA, Referee for international conferences and journals in Computer Science, Proposal evaluator for National and European Union R&D calls, and Member of the Board of Directors of Information Society Company from 2004 to 2008. This company, owned by the Greek State, is responsible for implementing e-government projects funded by the European Union. Moreover, she has served as Vice-President of the National Committee for the "Development of Digital Collections for Educational and Cultural Purposes" of HealthLink since 2003, she was a Member of the Directory Board of the Hellenic Academic Library Network (HealthLink) from 2001 to 2004 and also a Member of numerous consulting and evaluation committees for the employment of information technology and e-government support in the public sector. She has worked as a Consulter of numerous public organizations (as the National Diabetes Institution and Ministry of Defence) for designing and developing information systems and services. Her research interests include IoT, Information Systems Engineering-SOA, System Modeling and Simulation, System Engineering-Simulation Methodology, Collaborative Software – BPM, Digital Libraries, and Repositories.
