Gonçalo Paiva Dias is an associate professor at the School of Technology and Management of Águeda (ESTGA) at the University of Aveiro, being a member of the research unit on Governance, Competitiveness and Public Policy (GOVCOPP) and of the Telecommunications Institute (IT).

He holds a PhD in Computer Engineering from the University of Aveiro and a habilitation in Information Science and Technology from ISCTE – University Institute of Lisbon. He was Dean of ESTGA between 2011 and 2015 and Vice-Rector of the University of Aveiro between 2015 and 2018. His main research area is digital government, which he approaches from a multidisciplinary perspective. He has coordinated and participated in several multidisciplinary research projects and regularly publishes in computer science and social science journals.
