Cleide Fernandes

Cleide Fernandes helds a Bachelor's degree in Librarianship (UFMG), with specialization in Innovation, Management, and Leadership for Librarians, from CERLALC/Universidad EAFIT, Colombia, and a specialization in Audio Description from PUC Minas. She is part of International Network of Emerging Library lnnovators (INELI Iberoamerica), implemented by the Regional Center for the Promotion of Books in Latin America and the Caribbean (CERLALC) and the Germán Sánchez Ruipérez Foundation of Spain, with funding from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Currently, she serves as a librarian at the Secretary of State for Culture and Tourism of Minas Gerais, where she is dedicated to the management of the State Public Library System of Minas Gerais. Since 2006, she has been involved in projects promoting reading for children, youth, people with disabilities, and socioeconomically vulnerable communities. In her independent projects, she engages in delivering lectures, organizing events, providing consultancy services, and facilitating the establishment of networks among librarians, authors, publishers, experts, and government officials to foster the development of inclusive libraries. In recognition of her contributions, she was honored with the UFMG Medal of Honor in 2021, and in 2023, she was awarded the Medal Professor Etelvina Lima for her outstanding contributions as a librarian professional in the public sector.
