Biography

Bárbara Seco is currently a Communication Consultant at UNU-EGOV.

She is part of the ICEGOV team (International Conference on Theory and Practice of Electronic Governance), performing the role of Communications Chair. She is responsible for the conference's communication and organisation, programmatic support between the different committees, authors, and other conference participants, and editing the conference proceedings. Bárbara is also in charge of updating ICEGOV’s website.

She has worked as a master's research fellow in "Engage for SDG", a project about the use of moral domains in news narratives and their influence on young adults' engagement in relation to the goals of Sustainable Development Goals. She was most recently also a master's research fellow in "E-Monitoring", a project on the experiences of people under electronic monitoring in Portugal. Both were based in CECS - University of Minho.

Before, she was a copywriter and a communication advisor at a local design and communication agency and has also worked as a press officer for two electoral campaigns. Bárbara has a degree in Communication Sciences from the University of Minho and a post-graduation in Crime, Difference and Inequality by the same university.

She is currently writing her dissertation about the experiences of young people under electronic monitoring and in prison in Portugal. She has also completed a training course on Communication and Interaction with the Media at CENJOR in Lisbon.
