Biography

Mohammed Saidu Kumo, PhD, is a seasoned technologist with over 27 years of experience in IT, telecommunications, and engineering. He currently serves as the Director of Research and Development (R&D) at the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), spearheading efforts to rank Nigeria among the global leaders in Emerging Technologies.

Previously, Kumo led NITDA’s Projects Management Unit (PMU) from 2019 to 2023, ensuring the successful execution of strategic projects. He holds a PhD degree in Electrical Engineering from Universiti Putra Malaysia and Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi, Nigeria.

Kumo began his career as a Graduate Assistant at ATBU and later managed critical roles in telecommunications, including Help Desk Manager for NITEL and Mobile Services Switching Centre Manager at mTEL , before returning to academia as a lecturer. He has authored over 20 research papers and received advanced training from institutions like Siemens, Motorola, and ZTE University, earning certifications such as ISACA’s COBIT Design and Implementation. A registered member of COREN and NSE, he continues to drive Nigeria’s technological advancement on the global stage.
