David Omozuafoh
David Omozuafoh is the Regional Governance and Rule of Law Advisor at the United Nations Development Programme, Regional Service Centre for Africa, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. In this position, Omozuafoh oversights UNDP’s work in governance and rule of law sector in sub-Shara Africa.
He has worked in the field of democracy and governance since 1994 and has extensive experience in human rights, anticorruption/transparency and accountability, electoral process, conflict management, gender/women empowerment, donor coordination and civil society.
Omozuafoh has served in many capacities within UNDP and in many countries including Ethiopia, Tanzania, Kenya, Nigeria, Eswatini, Senegal and South Sudan. Prior to UNDP, he has also worked with the European Union Delegation in Nigeria, Centre for Development and Population Activities and Amnesty International Nigeria. Omozuafoh has master’s in international law and diplomacy from the University of Lagos, Lagos Nigeria and Executive Masters in Managing Peace and Security in Africa from the Addis Ababa University, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
He has managed many governance and human rights related projects including Governance, Peace and security statics, accelerating the ratification, domestication and implementation of African Union treaties, democratic institutions strengthening etc. He has facilitated many public space conversations around governance, public accountability, human rights, justice and rule of law at national and continental levels.
