Pablo Orefice is a computer engineer with a master's degree in health services management from the Universidad de Alcalá in Spain, and a specialization in health information systems from the Instituto Universitario del Hospital Italiano de Buenos Aires of Argentina. He is a professor of the Diploma in Medical Informatics at the Universidad de la Empresa in Uruguay. He has extensive experience managing large-scale projects during the last 25 years for the social security sector, especially for more than 15 years in the digital health area. Pablo served as Director of the Uruguay digital health initiative (Salud.uy) for more than 5 years and represented Uruguay in the General Assembly before the international organization SNOMED and the Global Digital Health Partnership. He was also a representative on the Regional Steering Committee (CDR) of the American Network for Cooperation in Electronic Health (RACSEL), an advisor to the former Minister of Health of Chile in the sector's digital transformation process and a senior consultant in digital transformation at CORFO-Chile for more than two years. He participated as a consultant to the IDB in the co-creation of the digital health agendas and their roadmaps for the ministries of health of Paraguay, El Salvador, Peru, and Ecuador. He is currently serving as a strategic advisor on digital transformation for the health sector in the SPH-BID digital health team.
