Dr. More Ickson Manda is a Senior Manager: Strategic planning at the Manufacturing, Engineering and Related Services Sector Education and Training Authority (merSETA), an agency of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation in South Africa. In his current role, he is responsible for research, strategy management and leading the digital transformation project. He holds a PhD (Information Systems) from the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa, a Master of Information Technology from the University of Pretoria in South Africa and a BSc (Hons) Information Science as well as certificates in Advanced Strategic Management and Business Analysis. Dr Manda is also currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration at the University of the Witwatersrand. He has also been part of several ministerial task teams and working groups focusing on policy. His research interests include e-government, smart cities, ICT and public administration and policy. He has published in leading international journals, book chapters and has presented his work at various International Conferences such as the IFIP e-government and e-participation Conference, the International Conference on Information Resources Management, and the Pacific Telecommunications Council Conference. He has close to 15 years of experience in research , strategy, ICT and enterprise information management in various sectors which include public services, non-profit-organisations, and Innovation, Research and Development. He is also a recipient of the 2018 Pacific Telecommunications Council (PTC) young scholar award. PTC’s Young Scholar Program recognizes and supports promising scholars in the field of telecommunications and ICTs. In 2018 he was selected to participate in the 2018 United Nations University Operating Unit on Policy Driven-Electronic Governance Government Fellowship programme.
