José Faria is the Technology Officer at the United Nations University Operating Unit on Policy-Driven Electronic Governance (UNU-EGOV) since May 2015. Since 1999 he is also Systems Administrator and Software Developer at the University of Minho. His responsibilities at UNU-EGOV are related to all technological aspects needed by the operating unit, such as: development and management of the data centre, backup and recover policies, defining policies for the use of the computer systems and networks, defining and setting up security policies, support documentation production, software development, development of new digital services, and web services support.

José holds a BSc in Informatics and Systems Engineering and a MSc in Computer Science, both from the School of Engineering at the University of Minho. He is also a PhD student of Distributed Systems at the same university and holds a High Management Course in Public Administration. His research interests include Cyber Security, Cloud, and Security Models. He has also the Cisco CCNA, ITIL training, and in recent years he has took specialized training in Cyber Security. He also delivered various invited lectures about Cyber Security and Systems Administration.
