Eliane Torres

Eliane Torres is a Research Consultant at UNU-EGOV. She has worked in multiple projects in the field of Democratic Governance in African countries under the auspices of international organisations such as the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (IDEA), the European Commission (EC), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES), among others. Eliane has over 12 years of experience in project management and as Technical Adviser to Electoral Management, Constitutional Review and Legislature Bodies. Her last post in the field was as Country Director for IFES in Burkina Faso.
She is a BRIDGE Accrediting Facilitator (Building Resources in Democracy, Governance and Elections) and a member of the ACE Electoral Knowledge Network and expert pool. Eliane holds the UNESCO-funded European Master in Human Rights and Democratisation as well as a Law degree from the University of Minho in Portugal.
