Efthimios Tambouris is a Professor of Information Systems and eGovernment at the Department of Applied Informatics at the University of Macedonia, Thessaloniki, Greece. He has also served as a Researcher Grade D at Research Center CERTH/ITI and at Research Center NCSR "Demokritos".

Before joining the academia, he worked for six years in the IT industry. Dr. Tambouris holds a Diploma in Electrical Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), Greece, and an MSc and PhD from Brunel University, UK. During the last 20 years he has initiated and managed several international research projects. He has also participated in numerous research projects, service contracts and standardisation activities at CEN. He is currently co-chair of the EGOV-CEDEM-ePart conference and Associate Editor of Government Information Quarterly and ACM Digital Government journals. He has more than 150 scientific publications in eGovernment.
