Conference Venue

All conference sessions will be held at Centro Cultural Vila Flor (CCVF) located at Avenida D. Afonso Henriques 701, 4810-431 Guimarães (a Google Maps widget is provided below).

The main cultural spot of the city, the CCVF was inaugurated in 2005 following extensive refurbishment works of the Vila Flor Palace and gardens originally built in the 18th century. Additionally, a new zone was built to host two auditoriums with 800 and 200 seated places, respectively, and the catering, exhibition, and administrative areas. Given its closeness to the historical city centre, the CCVF can be easily reached on foot from most hotels. Alternatively, you may take a bus if staying further from the city centre or the train if not staying in Guimarães (the train station is 5 minutes away on foot).

The conference will use of the main auditorium for all Keynote Lectures, High-Level Panels, Roundtable Sessions, and the Opening and Closing Ceremonies. Smaller rooms nearby will hold the Paper Sessions and Workshops. All rooms are named for Portuguese rivers, from north to south:

  • Minho – Main Auditorium
  • Douro – S1
  • Mondego – S2
  • Tejo – S3
  • Guadiana – S4
