Sari Perätalo is a researcher and doctoral candidate at Martti Ahtisaari Institute in Oulu Business School, where she also coordinates entrepreneurship minor studies program. She holds a master’s degree from geography in the field of regional development and policy. She has been working with her smart city business model topic since 2018 aiming to provide knowledge on what business model thinking is and how cities could benefit from it in practice. She wants to support cities by helping them to take into use their own business model approach when designing, building and governing digital services. Among others, she has been working with the Digital Transition Partnership of the Urban Agenda for the EU, focusing on the Action 13. Sari’s research interests include smart cities, business models, digitalization, governance, regional development, organizational change, ecosystems, platforms, and modularity.
